A new Cytek Aurora Spectral Cell Sorter has significantly enhanced research capabilities available at The University of Auckland. The Cytek Aurora CS is a state-of-the-art spectral sorter that was purchased for the Biomedical Imaging Research Unit (BIRU) in 2021. This advanced instrument was funded by the generous support of the Medical and Health Sciences Foundation.

In recognition of this invaluable contribution, a special event was recently held to express gratitude to the trustees of the Foundation. The trustees, including Professor Warwick Bagg (Dean), were treated to a demonstration of the capabilities of the system by BIRU staff member Dr. Sandy Chen. BIRU Director Dr. David Crossman conveyed his heartfelt appreciation for the Foundation's support and, together with Associate Professor Scott Graham (Academic Flow Cytometry Advisor), highlighted the transformative impact that the Cytek Aurora CS would bring to the university's research endeavours.

The event was also attended by Ray Gilbert (Technical Services Manager) and Dr. Richard Yulo (the former BIRU Technical Manager). To commemorate this generous support, a special plaque has been mounted on the side of the Cytek Aurora CS, serving as a permanent acknowledgment of the Foundation's contribution.

The BIRU remains committed to advancing scientific research and innovation, thanks to the continued support of its benefactors.
