Job ID: 16034 - Senior Research Fellow

The Centre for Longitudinal Research is seeking an experienced researcher to be part of a multidisciplinary team within the Centre. The key focus of the role will be to work with other members of the Centre to plan, coordinate and integrate aspects relating to the data gathering and analyses in the longitudinal "Growing Up in New Zealand" project.

The role will include scientific and grant proposal writing to support the Centre's objectives and to ensure research quality and the Centre and Growing Up in New Zealand sustainability.

Supervision and mentor-ship of early career researchers in the Centre will be an integral part of the role.

Applicants should hold a PhD in any of the following disciplines:

  • Health Sciences
  • Epidemiology
  • Medicine

or a relevant field related to the Centre, along with:

  • Experience in the supervision and mentoring of early career researchers and postgraduate students
  • Expertise in science management including an ability to work with stakeholders and programme leadership
  • Expertise in working with complex population datasets
  • Ability to quickly develop an understanding of the Growing Up in New Zealand project and its longitudinal objectives in particular

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) fixed term through to June 2016. While the position is offered full-time there may be some flexibility depending on the needs of the candidate

Job ID: 16035 - Senior Biostatistician

The Centre for longitudinal Research is seeking a senior Biostatistician to:

  • Provide expert bio statistical input into data collection, data linkage,  merging of datasets and  life course analyses to address Centre for Longitudinal Research objectives and scientific and policy relevant outputs, especially for the Growing Up in New Zealand project.
  • Support data management to ensure the delivery of high quality, fully documented research datasets for internal  and external Centre and Growing Up in New Zealand use
  • Support the analysis requirements of senior researchers and postgraduate students with in the Centre

Applicants should hold a higher degree in any of the following disciplines (although a PhD is preferred)

  • Statistics
  • Biostatistics
  • Epidemiology

or another relevant discipline, and should have:

  • Expertise in epidemiological and life course principles of longitudinal research design, data analyses and interpretation
  • Expertise in the analysis, management and interpretation of large datasets, including an understanding of the principles of data linkage
  • Thorough knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and willingness to develop novel skills

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) fixed term through to June 2016. Although offered as fulltime there may be some flexibility depending on the needs of the candidate.
