Janssen-Cilag: The management of metastatic prostate cancer in high-health need ethnic groups.

The University of Auckland in conjunction with the Midland Cancer Network are currently undertaking a study of the costs and complications of screening for prostate cancer, including the management of localised disease. We propose an additional study which will look at the management and outcomes of metastatic prostate disease. The proposed study will look at differences in the treatment of Maori and Pacific men compared with non-Maori/non-Pacific. Differences in outcomes will be examined. We will explore inequities in access to and quality of services between Maori and Pacific and non-Maori/non-Pacific men which will contribute to the development of knowledge around implications of the better, sooner, more convenient strategy.
