Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences in Mental Health

The Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (PGCertHSc), specialising in Mental Health, is offered to recent graduates in health sciences, psychology or other relevant disciplines, and to those working in mental health, health, education, primary healthcare, public health, rehabilitation, social services or community work.

Students are required to enrol in, and complete at least 45 points from the following courses:

  • POPLHLTH 735 - Mental Health Development: Theory and Principles (15 Points)
  • POPLHLTH 736 - Mental Health Promotion (15 Points)
  • POPLPRAC 702 - Primary Mental Health (15 Points)
  • POPLPRAC 712 - Project Planning for Lifestyle Change (15 Points)
  • POPLPRAC 754 - Infant, Child and Adolescent Primary Mental Health (15 Points)

and up to 15 points from:

  • MAORIHTH 701 - Foundations of Māori Health (15 Points)
  • POPLHLTH 733 - Health Promotion Theory and Models (15 Points)
  • POPLHLTH 734 - Health Promotion Strategies (15 Points)
  • POPLHLTH 739 - Introduction to Pacific Health (15 Points)
  • POPLPRAC 707 - Theory and Skills in Counselling Practice (15 Points)

or other courses approved by the Head of the School of Population Health.
