The Adolescent Health Research Group - Youth2000 Survey Series

We aim to provide accurate, up-to-date information that contributes to improved wellbeing and futures for all young people in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

We are working towards this goal through a diverse range of projects.

The Youth2000 National Youth Health and Wellbeing Survey series is our largest and most well-known project. More than 36,000 young people have taken part in this comprehensive, anonymous survey over the last 20 years (Youth19, Youth’12, Youth’07 and Youth’01, as well as surveys of alternative education students, wharekura, teen parents and NEET students).

If you would like an overview of the Youth2000 survey series and our methodology, information can be found here.

Our latest publications from Youth19 can be found here, and all other publications over the years by topic can be found here.

Youth19

In 2019 we carried out the Youth19 Rangatahi Smart Survey in the greater Waikato, Auckland and Northland regions. This includes approximately half of the New Zealand youth population and statistical techniques have been used to produce national estimates from these data.

We are in the process of analysing these data and will be posting any new reports and publications as they are completed on our Youth19 website.

If you would like information to collaborate with us or analyse data, it can be found here. Alternatively, you can contact the researchers here.
