Brazil

INFORMAS in Brazil is coordinated by Dr Ana Paula Bortoletto Martins (Idec –Brazilian Institute for Consumers Defense). We are conducting three modules: food labelling, food promotion and private sector. The first two modules are included in a research project coordinated by Idec in collaboration with Nupens/USP (Center for Epidemiological Studies in Health and Nutrition) and ACT Health Promotion. The third module is part of a research project conducted by a PhD student at the School of Public Health of the University of São Paulo. The Brazilian team has developed and built relationships with supermarkets in São Paulo and Salvador, in order to develop food labelling module.

The food labelling data collection will start in March/April 2017, and the food promotion module will start in the 2nd semester of 2017. The private sector module has started on February 2017.
