Asian Health researchers' meeting, May 4 2007


The Centre for Asian Health Research and Evaluation (CAHRE) hosted the Asian Health Researchers' meeting on 4th of May, Friday at the School of Population Health, University of Auckland. Representatives from Auckland University of Technology, Waikato University, The Asian Network Inc. (community organisation) and ACC attended the meeting. Good support and contributions were also made by Victoria University of Wellington, Office of Ethnic Affairs and Health Research Council.

The objectives of this meeting were:

  • To share the updates on research works
  • To explore the possibilities to form a consortium of shared Asian health research capability.

Where to from here: Action points

  • Make further effort to consolidate the collaborative effort among relevant research groups/centres on issues concerning the health and welfare of the Asian population.
  • There is also an idea to use KAREN (Kiwi Advanced Research and Education Network) for the enhancement of future communications.
  • There is a potential to work on joint research grant application and future Asian health conferences.
  • CAHRE will continue to drive the development of "Asian health research consortium".
