Dr Michelle Locke, MBChB, MD, FRACS (Plastics)

Dr Michelle Locke is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a sub-speciality interest in breast reconstruction, oculoplastic surgery and academic research. She undertook her medical training in New Zealand. During the course of her advanced training in Plastic Surgery, she completed her Doctorate of Medicine (MD) by thesis at the School of Biological Sciences, the University of Auckland. Her thesis was titled, “Mesenchymal Stem Cells: Their Potential in Wound Healing and Plastic Surgery”. After gaining her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), she completed two years of sub-speciality Fellowship training in North America, including six months at Paces Plastic Surgery in Atlanta, Georgia, USA as well as 18 months in Toronto, Canada. She returned to New Zealand in December 2011 and now divides her works time between clinical work as a Plastic Surgeon at Middlemore Hospital (CMDHB) and academic pursuits as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the South Auckland Clinical Campus.
