South Auckland Clinical Campus

Congratulations to Professor Andrew Hill

The South Auckland Clinical Campus would like to congratulate Andrew Hill in his promotion to Professor, a well deserved career milestone.

Professor Hill completed both his MBChB and an MD in Surgery at The University of Auckland before undertaking a research fellowship at Harvard University in 1993 and 1994. Andrew completed surgical training in 1997 and worked in Kenya as a medical missionary before returning to work at the faculty and at Middlemore Hospital in 2002 where he now practises as a General and Colorectal surgeon, and is the Director of Colorectal Surgery. Andrew was the recipient of a Vice Chancellor's early career research excellence award in 2004 and has used that award to develop his research portfolio which is based around improving outcomes from major abdominal surgery and medical education. He has published over 100 peer reviewed papers in these areas.

In addition to his academic, surgical and research workload, Andrew is also Head of the South Auckland Clinical Campus and has been very involved in establishing and developing the faculty’s relationship with Counties Manukau DHB’s Ko Awatea educational facility at Middlemore Hospital.
