William Mackenzie (April 1791 – July 1868)

 

 

 

 

William Mackenzie (April 1791 – July 1868) was a Scottish ophthalmologist. He wrote 'Practical Treatise of the Diseases of the Eye', one of the first British textbooks of ophthalmology.

The MacKenzie Medal is a highly prized award that has been awarded since 2004 for 'Early Excellence in Eye Research' - to recognise the significant contribution of a medical student, trainee intern or house officer towards a research project which has reached publication status during the year of the award.
