Annual image competition results 2014

The results of the Annual Image Competition were announced at the BIRU End of Year Celebration on Thursday 4 December. As usual, the quality of entries this year was very high and a number of awards were made.

The BIRU Image Trophy was awarded to Inken Kelch, School of Biological Sciences. Inken was the winner of the Visualisation and Analysis category.

Zakieh Vahdati from Infection and Immunity and Ravi Jain/Sharon Waldvogel from the Department of Surgery were awarded joint winners of the Light Microscopy category. Renita Martis from the Department of Optometry and Vision Science, won the Confocal Microscopy category this year. There were no entries in the Electron Microscopy category this year so no award was made.

There were a number of highly commended awards given. Recipients were David Crossman (Department of Physiology), Zakieh Vahdati (Infection and Immunity), Pauline Misa (Crosier Laboratory, Molecular Medicine & Pathology), Brad Raos (Department of Engineering Science) and Irina Rudykh/Rikus Botha (Department of Physiology).
