Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences

HealtheX 2017

HealtheX is celebrating its 11th anniversary of Friday 15th September 2017 from 8.30am till 5pm at The University of Auckland Grafton Campus.

HealtheX is a student-organised conference designed to promote research activity and excellence in presentation among postgraduate students associated with the wider Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. It is a forum where students can get together and present their research, in order to network and engage with fellow scientists, promote research and scientific thinking and improve their communication skills.

Entry requirements

HealtheX is open to graduate students currently enrolled at the University of Auckland under the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

A few exceptions apply, as listed below:

  • Undergraduate students may present original research conducted during a research component of their degree (e.g. 5th year Optometry, 4th year Pharmacy) or a summer student scholarship programme.
  • Honours and Masters students who are no longer enrolled but have completed their degree in the same calendar year, i.e. 2017, are also eligible.
  • Doctoral candidates who have submitted their thesis and completed their oral exam, but have not yet received the "Result of Doctoral Examination" letter confirming they have met the requirements of the Doctor of Philosophy as at 15 September 2017 are eligible.

Students may only enter HealtheX as individuals. For students who are working in a group project (e.g. 5th Year Optometry students), only one person must be elected to represent the group. The abstract must be submitted by the nominated presenter.

The research presented must be original, health-related and conducted, at least partially, under the supervision of FMHS.

Note: Students from the FMHS who wish to enter the University-wide Exposure competition are required to first enter HealtheX. For more information about Exposure competition visit the Exposure website.
