If you are a registered nurse wanting to upskill, the Master of Nursing Practice is the ideal programme for advancing your career opportunities.

This advanced nursing programme is designed to build upon your current skills and knowledge and provide an in-depth diagnostic and analytical approach to patient care using evidence-based healthcare.

You will usually have some experience working in a clinical specialty.

Programme structure

180 point masters

  • Enter from a postgraduate certificate or a Bachelor of Nursing with a GPA of 5 or higher and hold current registration as a registered nurse.
  • A Clinical Project and at least 30 points from two core courses: Evidence-based Practice and Implementation, and Clinical Reasoning in Pharmacotherapeutics.
  • Advanced level courses listed in the Master of Nursing Schedule (120 points).
  • Complete in three semesters if enrolled full time or twelve semesters if part time.

You must have completed a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences in Advanced Nursing with a GPA of 5.0 or higher.

You also need to have current registration as a registered nurse in New Zealand and have at least two years of post-registration clinical practice experience.

You also need to have current registration as a registered nurse in New Zealand, or with an approved overseas nursing regulatory body, and have at least two years post-registration clinical practice experience.

Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Amounts shown are indicative only. In addition to the tuition fees, there is a Student Services Fee of $8.88 per point, estimated at $1,065.60 for full-time study (120 points). Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.
