Description
Builds management and leadership knowledge, competence and business acumen through project based learning. Focuses on critical thinking, quality service delivery and improvements and maximises organisational performance and change management.
Requisites
It is expected that participants completing this course in semester 1 will also complete the Leadership Practicum "Leading improvement" course in the following semester.
Course information
Learning outcomes
By the completion of this course the student will, within their field of practice in health services, be able to:
- Describe and apply some of the key concepts from the leadership and management field
- Apply appropriate frameworks for managing service change and development
- Demonstrate an ability to influence health service delivery through effective project management
- Develop a strategy for their role in enhancing inter-professional team effectiveness
- Identify how they will contribute to the delivery of quality unit based health service delivery through the effective application of management and leadership competencies
- Critically review the effectiveness of management and leadership practices in their work environment
- Reflect upon their own personal style and skills as a leader in health care and develop a plan to further enhance their effectiveness and ongoing learning.
