Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences

Course planning and enrolment

While you don't need to have your entire degree mapped out before you start, it's good to have an overall plan.

The following page will assist in your planning.

Planning your timetable

Once you have been admitted to the Faculty you will need to work out your timetable and enrol in those courses.

You should enrol as soon as possible as many courses are very popular and have a limited number of places available. For this reason, it is also recommended that you enrol in Semester 1 and 2 courses at the beginning of the year.

General Education

All undergraduate programmes at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences require you to study General Education courses. Students of the Bachelor of Health Sciences are required to study two General Education courses, while students of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Nursing are required to take one General Education course.

Choose your courses

Courses in General Education are a distinctive feature of almost all bachelors degrees at the University of Auckland, including the four undergraduate programmes at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. The General Education programme has been designed to enable students to pursue their interests in fields related to but outside the subjects of the degree, or in other fields altogether.
