How is your brain wired?

Dr. Grant Searchfield (PhD) and Philip Sanders (PhD candidate) are looking for people to participate in a study looking at the brain’s ability to change in response to sensory events and how this process changes as we age. You will have your brainwaves recorded using electroencephalography (EEG), a non-invasive and painless technique, while you listen to sounds and watch simple visual stimuli.

The experiment will take approximately 2 hours (at Tamaki Campus) and you will receive a $20 petrol voucher and free hearing test to thank you for your time and participation.

To be eligible to participate you must:

·        Be 65 years (or older).

·        Have normal or corrected to normal vision (e.g. glasses).

·        Have normal hearing.

If you are interested in participating, please email Philip Sanders.

Approved by the University of Auckland Human Participants Ethics Committee on 09/11/2015 for 3 years. Reference number 015640.

The study is part of a PhD project and is funded by Brain Research New Zealand – Rangahau Roro Aotearoa, with additional support from the HOPE-Selwyn Foundation.
