Professor Paton’s research extends to clinical trials, with projects looking at novel treatments for both hypertension and heart failure. His research explores how the regulation of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems are coupled by the peripheral and central nervous systems and why these mechanisms fail in disease. He is an Honorary Academic of the Auckland Bioengineering Institute.
