"Cerebrovascular Response during Exercise: New Opportunities to Assess Brain Health"

Dr Sandra Billinger is a physical therapist (PT), PhD who has practiced for over 10 years in geriatrics, neurologic and cardiopulmonary physical therapy.  She has received continuous grant funding from internal and external sources including a NIH K01 training grant (2011-2017) and an American Heart Association Grant in Aid (2016-2018).  These grants have focused on cardiovascular health, exercise-related interventions and how physical activity impacts vascular health and brain ageing.

Dr Billinger has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals related to stroke, exercise, cardiovascular health and brain aging.  Her recent work has shifted to focus on cerebrovascular response to exercise in healthy adults and those at risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr Billinger’s presentation will focus on her most recent work in characterizing cerebrovascular response to moderate intensity exercise. She will present her insights and new methodology developed in her laboratory in an attempt to address this question.
