Professor Andrew Kaye is Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne and Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

He is the past President of the Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgeons and Chair of the Nominating Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies.

In 2003 the American Association of Neurological Surgeons honoured him with the Ronald Bittner Award for contributions to the treatment of brain tumours and in 2006 the Paul Bucy Award for his contribution to neurosurgery education.

Professor Kaye has authored and co-authored over 150 journal articles and book chapters, as well as five books including “Brain Tumours”, recognised as being a definitive text on the subject. His main clinical and research interest involves neuro-oncology, pituitary tumours and cerebrovascular disease.
