#Hello My Name Is - Chris Pointon - International Speaker Event as iCalendar

22 September 2017

12 - 1pm

Venue: Ernest Davis Library, Grafton

Location: Auckland City Hospital, Park Rd Grafton

Cost: no charge

Don't miss this inspiring session with International speaker Chris Pointon as he shares about the '#Hello My Name Is' campaign, a global movement created to help spread the message of the simple yet important value of health staff introducing themselves.

This fits very much with our values of welcome and respect and is a reminder of the difference an introduction can make in providing truly person-centred, compassionate care.

Chris is the husband of the late Dr Kate Granger MBE, a doctor in the UK who was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

As a patient in the NHS, Kate thought the basic step of health staff introducing themselves was missing and Chris encouraged her to do something about it.

On 31 August 2013 the #hellomynameis campaign was born.  Kate passed away in July 2016 but Chris has continued to evolve #hellomynameis.

The campaign has inspired millions of people and become a global movement, achieving more than 1.6 billion twitter impressions since 2013.

At this session you can hear Chris’s personal story, which will take you on a journey from the conception of #hellomynameis, how it now fits within global healthcare and how Kate’s legacy continues through the work of Chris and others.

It should be a very thought provoking session that will challenge us as to how we might do better for our patients and families.

Please make every effort to come along and share the invitation with your teams.
