Closing date 30 April 2017

A web portal has been set up to receive new nominations for Medals and Awards offered by the Royal Society of New Zealand this year. We are now calling for nominations for the 2017 round.

The medals and awards on offer this year are listed here

Please Note: The Academy Executive Committee is focused on increasing the diversity of nominations from under-represented groups, particularly with respect to gender, ethnicity and employment context.

New Early Career Awards

Four early career awards are being offered in 2017, which includes renaming two current awards. These are:

  • Royal Society Te Apārangi Early Career Research Excellence Award for the Humanities
  • Royal Society Te Apārangi Early Career Research Excellence Award for Social Sciences
  • Royal Society Te Apārangi Early Career Research Excellence Award for Science (the Hamilton Award)
  • Royal Society Te Apārangi Early Career Research Excellence Award for Technology, Applied Science and Engineering (the Cooper Award)

Medal rotation among disciplines

From, and including 2017, the Hector Medal, Hutton Medal, and Te Rangi Hiroa Medal will be awarded annually across all disciplines rather than one discipline per year in rotation.

Please email the Academy if you wish to submit a new nomination and you will be provided with a URL to access the web portal.

The closing date is 30 APRIL 2017.
