CLeaR seminars: Supervision colloquium: Launching the supervision strand Event as iCalendar

CLeaR is launching a strand of seminars to open discussion on supervision practice—watch for advertising as these roll out this year. Our launch includes guest speaker, Professor Gina Wisker , University of Brighton and author of The Good Supervisor (2012) 2 nd Edition, Palgrave Macmillan, followed by a panel of early career academics giving troubleshooting advice. The supervision seminars on managing the relationship; the pressure points of the early stages and period before submission; supervising students whose first language is not English and supervising across cultures; and Masters supervision.

Guest speaker, Professor Gina Wisker University of Brighton , author of The Good Supervisor (2012) 2nd Edition, Palgrave Macmillan, will raise strategies for supervisory practice and field questions—bring yours! Gina's research investigates

  • what does it mean to be a 'good' supervisor?
  • how can we work with the diversity of students and the diverse demands on the role?

Gina will also guest chair the first panel discussion, Supervision troubleshooting: Ask your auntie A panel of four early career academics will give their personal and possibly varying advice on questions about supervisory from anonymous sources across campus.
