Visitng expert : Professor Isobel Braidman

Professor Isobel Braidman is a visiting expert in problem based learning and professional development from University of Manchester Medical School.

Her successful innovations include: introducing personal and professional development portfolios (PPDportfolios) de novo to the Medical School, with over 2,200 students, geographically dispersed in clinical teaching settings throughout north-west England; recently developing an ePPDportfolio, which, innovatively, interfaces with mobile technologies; initiating group activities that  accustom students to reflective learning and critical thinking skills, and understand issues of professional behaviour; introducing Clinical Academic Advisors and Tutors for Personal and Professional Development, to provide personalised guidance and group tutor/facilitators; and online discussions enabling students to reflect on making sound professional judgements, innovatively, peer- facilitated by students.

Professor Braidman was awarded the highly prestigious National Teaching Fellowship in 2011 and promoted to Chair in Medical Education in 2012.
