We are pleased to be hosting a half day Interprofessional Education Showcase.

First session: 12.30-2pm

  • Professor Marion Jones "The barriers to IPL/IPE - beyond the easy excuses of sustainable IPE activity"
  • Mr Pat Alley / Avril Lee "Building a sustainable IPE platform to improve medication safety – PGY1 teaching programme"
  • Dr Stephen Child "ALERT!! IPE more than standing at the beside" ALERT is a multi-professional programme where nurses, allied health workers and doctors train together as a team to anticipate, recognise and prevent critical illness at an early stage using a structured and prioritised system of patient assessment and management

Second session: 2.15–3.15pm

  • Associate Professor Mark Barrow / Dr Craig Webster "Advanced Cardiac Life Support simulation training with interprofessional teams"
  • Carley Jones "All aboard the interprofessional islander – navigating from theory to practice" Restructuring a workforce development programme for DHB staff around an interprofessional focus and an overview of the rural health interprofessional immersion programme

  • Dr Jane Torrie / Dr Gihan Ganesh "Getting to 'Go-Live', ready for 'Roll-out'?" Development and implementation of a large-scale IPE activity engaging medical, nursing and pharmacy students in ward-based simulations
  • Associate Professor Jennifer Weller "Multi-disciplinary simulation training in the management of the surgical patient (the MORSim Project)" How to engage the entire clinical team in meaningful activity in a simulated operating room
