Physics colloquium - MARS spectral molecular imaging Event as iCalendar

28 August 2013

11:15am - 12:15pm

Dr Anthony Butler, Otago School of Medicine, Christchurch

New Zealand is leading the world in a new medical imaging modality that provides molecular information about tissues. The local groups uses technology translated from the high energy physics experiments on the Large Hardon Collider at CERN. The goal of the MARS project is to improve the ability to diagnose and monitor a range of diseases. To do this we use spectral x-ray devices that can measure both the constituents of the body and pharmaceuticals that have been injected.
