Abstract

: Researchers in the Liggins’ Clinical Endocrinology Group have been investigating the long-term health effects of the early life environment, and have, more recently, been examining the impact of micronutrients on adult metabolism. In this talk, we’ll give a brief overview of our group’s published work in 2013 and its interest to the general public. Dr Ahila Ayyavoo will provide a summary of her PhD work, explaining our recent findings on prolonged gestation, vomiting pregnant women, and the issues of being the oldest sibling. Dr Sumudu Seneviratne will provide a summary of her project “Can we improve neonatal and maternal outcomes in overweight women with home based exercise”.
