PharmaTell seminar: The effects of methamphetamine on metabolite markers and white matter in the brain Event as iCalendar

25 March 2013

12 - 1pm

Venue: Room 505-364, Building 505, 85 Park Road, Grafton

Methamphetamine addiction is an epidemic of global proportion and its consequences have become a major international health problem. Previous studies in abstinent users have reported metabolite abnormalities and white matter changes in the brain that have been attributed to methamphetamine use.  However, the effect of current use on these MRI markers has not been investigated.  This research set out to investigate changes in metabolite levels and white matter in the brain of active and recently abstinent methamphetamine users with magnetic resonance spectroscopy and diffusion tensor imaging.
