PharmaTell seminar: Challenges and pharmaceutical strategies to improve cancer chemotherapy Event as iCalendar

25 February 2013

1 - 2pm

Venue: Pharmacy Practice Suite Room 502-004, Building 502, 85 Park Road, Grafton

Conventional cancer chemotherapy suffers poor specificity for tumour tissue. The use of targeted drug delivery systems (TDDS) has the potential to improve therapy by localising drugs to solid tumours. This joint talk will introduce some background information in cancer drug development and highlight the TDDS study designs and some results of the projects.

Professor Baguley is a Co-Director of the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre and has been involved in the development of a number of anticancer drugs from molecular design to clinical trial.

Dr Zimei Wu, since her appointment in 2009 as a Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy, has focussed her research on tumour targeted delivery of small anticancer drugs. She has established local research links and has also formed an international collaboration with her alma mater. Her funding includes a China-NZ Research Alliance Award and a Marsden Fast-Start Fund.
