Special seminar: Ankylosing Spondylitis Event as iCalendar

06 October 2012

10am - 12pm

Venue: Function Room 730-220, Building 730, Tāmaki Innovation Campus

The University of Auckland Clinics is working closely with Arthritis New Zealand this year on delivering sessions to the general public to raise awareness of issues associated with arthritis, and the role exercise can play in managing symptoms.

Arthritis New Zealand is providing two free seminars in Auckland on Ankylosing Spondylitis on Saturday 29th September and Saturday 6th October.

Ankylosing Spondylitis is a condition that affects mainly young males, who would commonly be treated for back pain. However, it is not well known and is often misdiagnosed by health professionals and CAM practitioners such as chiropractors, osteopaths, massage therapists and acupuncturists. The most crucial thing for people who have Ankylosing Spondylitis is that they exercise to maintain movement and flexibility so that their spine, pelvis and other joints remain mobile and do not fuse.

The University of Auckland is supporting Arthritis New Zealand by hosting the sessions on the 6th October at the Tamaki Innovation Campus, Glen Innes.

Please come along to one of these FREE seminars, delivered by expert speakers to understand more about the diagnosis, treatment, physiotherapy, medications, exercise and general management of Ankylosing Spondylitis.
