Special Seminar: Assessing Hospital Performance in Three Dimensions Event as iCalendar

03 October 2012

12:30 - 1:30pm

Venue: Room 730-441, Building 730, Tāmaki Innovation Campus

In a recent HRC grant we have assessed the performance of hospitals across the dimensions of efficiency, effectiveness (quality and safety) and equity.  After presenting some preliminary results from the sub-studies in these three areas, I focus on attempting to provide information on hospital performance using a “balanced scorecard” approach – that is, presenting information across different dimensions for each hospital.  On the measures we use for the period 2001 – 2009 we find that there is little consistency across dimensions, in other words, for any given hospital among the 35 being considered, there is little consistent ranking across the dimensions of efficiency, effectiveness and equity.
