Molecular Medicine and Pathology seminar series: The lucky kiss; Brain control of fertility Event as iCalendar
08 November 2011
3:30 - 4:30pm
Venue: Seminar Room 501-505, Building 501, 85 Park Road, Grafton
The next seminar in the Molecular Medicine and Pathology Seminar Series will be presented by Professor Allan Herbison from the University of Otago.
The title of his seminar is: The Lucky Kiss; Brain Control of Fertility.
Interest and progress in the brain control of fertility has exploded with the recent discovery of the kisspeptin signalling system. Highly conserved across species, including humans, kisspeptin is now recognized as the key neuropeptide controlling fertility across puberty through into adulthood. The lecture will outline the discovery and progress in this field and focus on a variety of transgenic mouse models that have played a key role in elucidating its function.
