PharmaTell Seminar: Neurodegenerative disease modelling Event as iCalendar
28 September 2011
1 - 2pm
Venue: MEDFAC Designated Room: 532-309B
Neurodegenerative diseases such as stroke Alzheimer’s disease and Huntington’s disease are becoming more common within our aging population. Despite the prevalence and socio-economic impact of these disorders currently there are no effective treatments targeting acute or chronic neurodegeneration within the central nervous system. The identification and validation of new therapeutic strategies is dependent on a clear understanding of the pathophysiology of these disorders and the mechanisms underlying the disease processes.
This presentation will describe the development of experimental disease models to investigate Stroke and Huntington’s disease. Disease models that demonstrate functional improvement may ease the translation of potential treatments into human patients.
