The University of Auckland Scholarship in General Practice

This scholarship is to assist students undertaking study in general practice at The University of Auckland who are resident in, or undertaking research of benefit to, the South Auckland area. One scholarship is awarded annually to the value of $4,000. The basis of selection will be academic merit, leadership potential, financial hardship and the quality of the research proposal or project (if applicable).

Applications by way of a form close with the Scholarships Office on 31 March in the year of the award.

Goodfellow Masters Scholarship in Medicine and Health Science

This is awarded to a suitable candidate who is enrolled full-time and who has paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for one of the following degrees: Master of Audiology, Master of Health Science or Master of Public Health. Selection is based on academic merit. There is one award per year to the value of $2,500.

Applications for this scholarship should be made by a letter to the Administrative Office of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences by 1 November in the year prior to the year of award.

School of Population Health student prizes

The school offers two prizes in public health:

  • the John McLeod Prize for best student in the diploma (book vouchers to the value of $400)
  • the prize for the best thesis or dissertation in Public Health (book vouchers to the value of $500).

From 2012 there is a Global Public Health Prize of $1000 for the student who has obtained the highest overall marks in POPHLTH 715 (Global Public Health) and either POPHLTH 752 (Case Studies in Global Health) or one other postgraduate course in Public Health as determined each year by the Associate Dean of Research of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences in consultation with one academic staff member of the Department of Social and Community Health.

There is also the Oticon Foundation in New Zealand Prize of $500 for a student who has completed the dissertation for the Master of Audiology in recognition of an original and outstanding contribution to knowledge in the field of hearing science and audiology.
