Entry to masters is possible after a 120 point postgraduate diploma with a B or
higher grade average. Students may take a taught masters with a 60 point
dissertation plus 60 points of courses or a research masters with a thesis or

Finding a supervisor
In the semester before enrolment in a dissertation, thesis or research portfolio, students must
find a supervisor and develop a suitable research topic.
The following resources are available:
Masters topic form
Applicants must complete a Masters Topic Form and hand it to Teaching Administration to enrol in a thesis,
dissertation or research portfolio.

Copies of theses and dissertations are available for inspection in the Tamaki
Library or the thesis cupboards in the School of Population Health Student Resource
Room. Please ask at reception for a key to the cabinet.
Research proposal form
Students enrolled in a thesis or research portfolio must also complete their
masters thesis or research proposal before the end of the first semester of enrolment in consultation
with their supervisor.

supervision and resources available and to ensure the student is on track to complete
the research within the timeframe.
