Many international students choose to take a Public Health programme, which can
lead to a range of career opportunities in areas of specialisation within the programme,
such as health promotion, environmental health, and effective practice.
Medical graduates who are currently registered in their country of domicile may
be admitted to a Medical Science programme, allowing them to take theory based courses
in primary health subject areas. It should be noted that a number of clinical-based
courses require the student to be working in the New Zealand health services with
access to patients. These courses are therefore not available to international students.
The
Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences in Health Informatics is a suitable
programme for people with experience working in healthcare who wish to shift their
career focus.
