Raj Bhopal
Professor
Raj Bhopal (CBE, DSc (Hon), MD, BSc, MBChB, MPH,
FRCP(E), FFPH) is Bruce and John Usher Professor of Public Health in Edinburgh
University and honorary consultant in public health with the Lothian NHS Health
Board. His books include Concepts of Epidemiology (OUP 2002, second edition
2008) and Ethnicity, race and health in multicultural societies, (OUP 2007). His
academic publications include about 200 journal articles, on a range of topics
including legionnaires disease, primary care epidemiology, AIDS prevention,
environmental epidemiology and ethnicity and health. He is currently focusing on
ethnic variations in disease, with a special emphasis how to respond to this
knowledge with more effective public health interventions and clinical services,
particularly around cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. As Chairman of the
Management Executive Committee he was leader of the 19th World Congress of
Epidemiology 2011, held in Edinburgh.
Associate Professor Chee Ng
Associate
Professor Chee Ng (MBBS, MMed(Psych), FRANZCP, MD) is Associate Professor and Director of the International Psychiatry Unit, University of Melbourne based at St Vincent’s Mental Health. He is also Co-Director of the Asia-Australia Mental Health, Site Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Mental Health, Treasurer of the Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists, and Deputy Director of the Professorial Psychiatry Unit of The Melbourne Clinic; these reflect his areas of expertise in community mental health system development, workforce development and clinical psychiatry. For 10 years, he has worked in various mental health projects with key partners in China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia. Since 2005, he has led the Asia-Pacific Community Mental Health Development Project involving 16 Asia-Pacific countries. He has also served as international mental health consultant for WHO and health ministries in several Asian countries.

Derrick Silove
Professor
Derrick Silove (M.B Ch.B (Hons I), M.D FRANZCP), specialises in the
area of mass trauma, transcultural psychiatry and refugee and postconflict
mental health. His specific interests are in post-traumatic stress disorder;
anxiety disorders (particularly adult separation anxiety disorder);
developmental psychology, asylum seekers, violence, war and post conflict, and
ethics, human rights and health. He holds a number of NHMRC and ARC grants and
is a partner on an NHMRC Program Grant with leading researchers around Australia
examining the longitudinal impact of severe injuries. He has published over 300
journal articles, book chapters, monographs and major reports. His team is at
the forefront of research in the field of refugee and post-conflict mental
health worldwide. He has played a key role in establishing services for
traumatic stress amongst refugees and conflict-affected populations and in the
anxiety disorders in general in Australia and internationally in post-conflict
societies such as Timor Leste. He has been a consultant for a range of
international agencies including the WHO, UNHCR and World Federation for Mental
Health.

Elias Mpofu
Professor
Elias Mpofu (Ph.D., DEd, CRC) is a professor and head
of the discipline of rehabilitation counseling at the University of Sydney. He
is a leading researcher on counselling people with disadvantage, vulnerability
and survivorship in diverse community settings. His community oriented research
earned three international awards in rehabilitation research from the USA
National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research (2008), National
Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE), and the American Rehabilitation
Counselling Association Research Award (2007). For his leadership in teaching,
Professor Mpofu was awarded the Rehabilitation Educator of the Year Award by the
NCRE in 2010. Professor Mpofu is Editor of the Australian Journal of
Rehabilitation Counselling and the Journal of Psychology in Africa. He also
serves on the editorial boards of several rehabilitation counselling related
journals, including Journal of Rehabilitation Administration, Rehabilitation
Education, Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin, Psychological Assessment, and the
International Journal of Disability, Development and Education.
