The School of Pharmacy will be introducing a new suite
of postgraduate qualifications in clinical pharmacy in 2012, which will replace
the current qualifications in pharmacy practice. The programmes have been
designed to allow students living anywhere in New Zealand to enrol. Most of the
material will be presented on-line and will be supplemented by face-to-face
weekend workshops for some courses.
Students can also enrol in programmes in Pharmaceutical Sciences through the
Health Sciences suite of programmes or apply to complete a research degree.
Research topics are available accross the three divisions of the school: Division of Pharmacy Practice, Division of Pharmaceutics and Division of Pharmacotherapy.
Postgraduate programmes offered by the School of Pharmacy
All postgraduate programmes are designated as '700 level' courses, which have several distinctive features. They are centred in a culture of research and theory, designed to extend prior knowledge and skill in both breadth and depth and to promote deep learning. More importantly, they place upon the student the major responsibility for:
- critically evaluating evidence, findings and discussions in the literature
- applying knowledge and skill to new situations.
Students are expected to engage in active tutorial and workshop sessions, to lead on selected topics and to bring forward their queries and relevant practice experience.
