Each semester the School of Nursing in conjunction with the
Student Learning Centre (SLC) and
Philson Library runs an Orientation to Study Programme
for new students.
All students who are new to study at The University of Auckland are required to
attend. Nursing courses are run on the basis that students are familiar with the
areas covered in the orientation.

- Study organisation (including how to study part-time)
- Reading
- Note taking
- Assignment writing
- Paraphrasing and referencing
- Introduction to use of the library.

wish to attend. There is a modest annual SLC fee which entitles students to SLC
facilities and courses such as those mentioned above.
