As mental health and addictions exist within a complex cultural, economic, social,
political and environmental context, research needs to be able to draw on a range
of knowledge, expertise and approaches.
In undertaking its work, the centre adopts a multi-disciplinary and collaborative
approach. It brings together groups and individuals from within The University of
Auckland, and from national and international academic institutions, stakeholder
groups and community organisations. Our relationships with Māori in this regard
indicates the centre’s commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Many of the research team hold joint appointments, strengthening the connections
between the centre’s research outcomes and its practical application in clinical
practice and service delivery.
The Centre for Mental Health Research is always keen to talk with individuals and
organisations that are interested in becoming part of collaborative research endeavours
or are looking for guidance, assistance or input around a research project.
