Welcome to Peter Jones, who has been appointed as Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and based at the Waikato Clinical School. Peter has an appointment with the Waikato District Health Board as a consultant in Rheumatology and will be developing his research interest in the genetics of gout in conjunction with the University of Otago. He will also provide support for the fifth year medicine programme and the fourth year locomotor medicine students. Peter has a faculty role as Phase 3 Director for the School of Medicine.

We are very pleased to have Peter working with us at the Waikato Clinical School and look forward to his support for the development of research within the Department of Medicine and the school as a whole.

We are also very pleased to welcome Sarah Thumath as secretary to the department, working as a Personal Assistant to the Head of School and providing support also for the Department of Medicine.
