Programmes offered
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
The six-year undergraduate MBChB programme is the flagship of the School of
Medicine. Following initial study in a broad based first year, students are
selected to complete the medical programme on the basis of academic performance
during the first year,
a structured interview and a standardised psychometric test (UMAT). More than
seven
students apply for each place available in the medical programme.
Teaching on the programme is delivered by staff in all schools of the faculty. The
faculty is fortunate in having a large and diverse body of teaching staff upon which
they can draw to deliver the programme. In addition to The University staff, more
than 600 honorary clinical teachers are involved in teaching throughout the programme.
