School of Medicine Surgical Research Network - Governance

The management structure of the Surgical Research Network comprises the Director, Deputy Director and the Manager Surgical Research Network. A Scientific Advisory Board provides scientific support for the SRN.

  Professor John A. Windsor   Professor John A. Windsor BSc MBChB Dip. Obst MD FRACS FACS is the Director of the Surgical Research Network. He is responsible for the academic, administrative and strategic leadership of the Network.

Deputy Director

  Associate Professor Susan Stott   Associate Professor Susan Stott MBChB PhD FRACS is the Deputy Director of the Surgical Research Network and is responsible for assisting and advising the Director.

SRN Manager

    Scott Aitken   Scott Aitken MSc is the Manager of the Surgical Research Network. He has responsibility for research development, financial management and ensuring the smooth operation of the Network's administration and research support services.

Scientific Advisory Board

The SRN Scientific Advisory Board provides external scientific support and advice to ensure the SRN performs at international levels of excellence. The Board is comprised of three internationally recognised scientists with expertise in a range of disciplines directly applicable to the activities of the SRN.

 

people Professor Murray F. Brennan Professor Murray F. Brennan MD FACS holds the Benno C. Schmidt Chair in Clinical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York and currently serves as Vice President of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He is a surgeon with special expertise in the treatment of soft tissue sarcomas, endocrine tumours and pancreatic and stomach cancers.
     
people   Professor Garth Cooper   Professor Garth Cooper DPhil FRCPA FRSNZ is one of New Zealand’s foremost biological scientists and biotechnology entrepreneurs. He currently divides his time between the UK and New Zealand under three university appointments. These are Professor of Discovery and Experimental Medicine and Director of the Centre for Advanced Discovery and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Manchester; Visiting Professor in Pharmacology: Discovery and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Oxford; and Professor in Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry at The University of Auckland with joint appointments to the School of Biological Sciences and the Department of Medicine.
     
people   Professor John McCall   Professor John McCall MBChB MD FRACS holds the McKenzie Chair in Clinical Science at the School of Medicine, University of Otago. Professor McCall is involved in clinical trials related to primary and secondary liver cancer and is on the Scientific Committee of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group.
