A number of surgeons within these four hospitals have academic or honorary
positions with the Department of Surgery. They are responsible for providing
surgical training to all medical students during their fifth and sixth years of
instruction. These Academic Clinicians also undertake surgical research,
collaborating with other academics and students.
Mission statement
Our mission statement is to undertake research and teaching of the highest
possible standard in all disciplines of surgery, and contribute to the delivery
of high quality surgical healthcare in Auckland and beyond.
Research
The Surgical Research Network is the main research focus of this department. It
aims to enhance the research capacity of surgeons, scientists and students
working within the field of surgery.
