Our research group aims to allow people to recover faster and safely after major surgery.

The Auckland Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (AERAS) Group is based at the South Auckland Clinical School at Middlemore Hospital, and at North Shore Hospital. It is primarily a clinical, translational research group, aiming to optimise perioperative care with a special focus on colorectal surgery. The AERAS Group has implemented the first published ERAS protocol in Australasia and has successfully run numerous randomised trials.
