Students will have workshops on Wednesdays at the Waikato hospital and will not
have to return to Auckland for these. On arrival, the students must report to Raewyn
Wooderson (contact details below).
Outline of
programme
Thursday of week one:
Meet with Raewyn Wooderson, Waikato Clinical
School, Peter Rothwell Academic Centre (next to the Bryant Education Centre, main
hospital carpark) at 8.30am, followed by meeting with run coordinator, Dr Wayne
de Beer at 9am for orientation to the hospital and the department. At this meeting
runs will be allocated and a timetable provided.
Thursday of weeks two-six:
Day release to attend either the Child
and Family Team, the Crisis Team, the Consultation-Liaison Department or the Mental
Health Services for the Older Person Service.
Tuesday:
Each student will rotate through a session of ECT.
Wednesday 1-2pm::
Meeting with the coordinator as a group.
Wednesdays 2-4pm weeks two to six:
Seminar time to cover relevant
topics
Wednesdays 8:30-9:30am:
Departmental Journal Club at the Elizabeth
Rothwell building, 9th floor. ;
- The individual teams have their own timetables that each student will be expected
to follow. These will be available at the start of each attachment. The teams are,
Hamilton-Huntly, Hamilton-Raglan, Hamilton-Cambridge and the North/South. These
are integrated teams and each student will have a predominantly in patient experience
but will have exposure to the community aspect of the service during their time
spent in the sub-specialities.
