The PGDipSci and MSc in Health Psychology are postgraduate programmes offered jointly
by the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
They are taught jointly by health psychologists working in the Department of Psychology (Faculty of Science) at the Tamaki Campus and in the Department of Psychological Medicine in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
Following the PGDipSci in Health Psychology, students can apply to do a MSc in Health
Psychology which is a one year thesis only degree.
The PGDipSci in Health Psychology and the MSc in Health Psychology provide a strong
background in the theoretical, methodological and practical applications of health
psychology. The courses aim to produce graduates with a sound knowledge base and
high quality research skills who are able to design and carry out effective health
psychology research and interventions in healthcare settings. They will be able
to evaluate the effectiveness of intervention programmes and be sophisticated in
the use of methodological approaches in the health area.
