The Department of Paediatrics: Child and Youth Health, strives to improve the health and well-being of children
and young people through teaching, research, clinical leadership and advocacy.
The department is a leader in research on the health of children and young people,
and has nationally and internationally-active research groups in infectious diseases,
population health, respiratory diseases, growth and nutrition, foetal development,
youth health, endocrinology, cot death, and allergy.
The department contributes extensively to both undergraduate and postgraduate health
professional education.
The department has a staff of more than 100 researchers, clinicians and administrators, and
is headed by Professor Innes Asher.
