APAO Congress 2011
The APAO Congress (26th Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology) was held in Sydney
from 20-24 March, at the Sydney Convention Centre on Darling Harbour, attended by
over 4,700 delegates from around the world. Professor Charles McGhee was the Scientific
Program Chairman, and several others in our department were also responsible for
convening or coordinating a number of the sessions. Our department was very well
represented with many attending from Auckland, giving multiple presentations. Charles
was honoured with the De Campo Award for academic excellence in ophthalmology, and
is the highest award of is type in the Asia-Pacic region.
