to improve standards of obstetric and gynaecological care provided by general practitioners
working in the community. Diploma candidates undergo a programme of practical training
and formal education. Special update courses are held twice a year, as are the formal
examinations (written multi-choice questions and an objective structured clinical
examination).

for hospital resident staff. In addition, it oversees training and teaching of candidates
for membership of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians
