The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is taught by the School of Medicine. The Department of
Medicine contributes to teaching in the MBChB programme throughout the entire course,
but our greatest component of teaching commences after year three, during attachment
practicums within local hospitals.

Postgraduate courses
The Department of Medicine teaches two postgraduate courses:
These 15-point courses are intended to fit into
degree/diploma programmes run within
other departments.
Medicine 703 is a medical research topic related to a student’s current study. Students
who have a medical research proposal they would like to pursue are invited to contact the Head of Department to discuss the suitability of the proposed topic for this
course. There are no formal lectures scheduled. Advanced study in a specific
area usually related to the field of study of the thesis. Topics include but are
not restricted to, clinical neuroscience, bone science, rheumatology,
geriatrics, cardiology, respiratory and renal medicine.
